Beaverlodge Elks Lodge # 249 was instituted on July 3, 1934, with 33 members. Wallace King was the first Exalted Ruler and Ralph Carrell was the Leading Knight. Membership in the lodge rose steadily until 1983, reaching a high of 98 members. Three members from our lodge have gone on to serve as Provincial Presidents, bothers Ralph Carrell, Nick Nesedkin and John Evjan. Beaverlodge has also had a toal of 21 District Deputies through-out it's history.
Our lodge room displays a list of all past Presidents, Deputies, and Rulers. Other articles of history include Awards, Trophies ( past and present ) , historic Fezzes
and several photos.
Our club operated the Beaverlodge Sports Days for over 25 years. Have cooked many benefit breakfasts for families in need and contributed money and many man hours to local community improvements such as the sports grounds, curling rink and playgounds. Many children have particated in an jesery provided by our club over the years. Students in our local school have also benefitted, winning high school awards, recieving assistance for hearing needs and by participating in numerous poster contests. Meetings were held upstairs in the " old " community
center , for the last 20 years, downstairs in the present community center until this summer when we moved into the Town Square.
